Owls chairman Dave Allen has revealed to Radio Sheffield that promotion-chasing Birmingham City are the latest club to express a desire in highly-rated owls defender Madjid Bougherra.

The Algerian international has been linked with a number of Premiership clubs including Charlton Athletic, Everton and Newcastle United but could now make the move to St Andrew's should the Blues let Matthew Upson leave the club.

Allen told Radio Sheffield: 'I think if Birmingham come in properly we'll be able to do a proper deal with them because I know their directors very well and we'll be able to deal with things sensibly. It depends what happens with Matthew Upson there.

And Allen admitted that although in an ideal world he would like Bougherra to stay at the club - a bid in the region of £3m would be hard to turn down.

'I'd like the lad to stay. Everyone would like him to stay. But at the end of the day if we get £3 million for him it'll be a deal well done.'

Wednesday have already turned down a bid in the region of £1.3 million for Bougherra's services from Charlton Athletic but an improved offer of £3 million could see Owls boss Brian Laws dip in to the transfer market.

Allen has already gone on record as saying that any money received for players up to £2 million could go in to Laws' transfer kitty while anything extra would go to the bank to pay off the debt.

And the Owls new away colour is...

 << clicky

Best of a VERY bad bunch!

As for the more important matters. Saturdays game as pointed out by Ally did seem a foregone conclusion after finding out on Radio Sheffield that Bougherra & Hills had failed fitness tests and Wood turned an ankle in training. As soon as it said BOBinns was at left back i knew he'd get slaughtered by Edwards. When Luton came he did a right job on Hills who's job it is to be a left back! I really felt like leaving at 3-0 coz i just thought it was going to be a rout having Brunt, Folly and Whelan all in defence. Only stayed coz i expected it to be empty by full time with all the people leaving!

As for Bougherra & Brum well for £3 million then take the cash but they'd better be quick and get a replacement in before 31st otherwise Whelan's going to end up as 1st choice centre back!

The problem is Jazzy, if you leave it too late you wont be able to bring anyone in at all.

Wednesday chairman Dave Allen has revealed the club are in talks with three potential investors and hope to have a deal tied up for the start of next season.

The Owls supremo revealed at the start of the month that Wednesaday would commence talks with an interested party at the end of January, but has since revealed that three potential investors are interested in the club.

And Allen is currently in talks with all three and is hoping a deal can be struck up by the start of next season. He expects the board to have made a decision on a way forward in the coming months.

He told the official SWFC site: 'We've sat down, talked and looked at the valuation of the club. Over the next few months the board will choose which of the deals we believe to be the best way forward for Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. I think between now and the middle of the summer something will definately happen.'

Allen has already been linked with a potential investor in China who's involved with a casino business while boxing promoter Dennis Hobson has also expressd his desire to invest alongside a Jersey consortium.
