only_me Posted January 18, 2007 Share Posted January 18, 2007 Hi PopT, i think the Shades was on Ecclesall road, its now the site of napoleons casino. My dad often mentioned the club as it was owned by a friend of his called Max omare, Max went on to own other night clubs. Around 1969/70 used to call in Saturday nights after drinks in Crosspool Tavern, York, then walk down. After a few more ales and a goat curry I was fuelled up enough to walk back home to Fulwood. You kinda lined up in rows opposite each other then proceeded to kick the living crap out of the row opposite in a kinda can-can stylee.
