Hi PopT, i think the Shades was on Ecclesall road, its now the site of napoleons casino. My dad often mentioned the club as it was owned by a friend of his called Max omare, Max went on to own other night clubs. Sorry i also dont know about the dancing but at least your thread has been bumped.

Dont think I ever got round to dancing there. Around 1969/70 used to call in Saturday nights after drinks in Crosspool Tavern, York, then walk down. After a few more ales and a goat curry I was fuelled up enough to walk back home to Fulwood. Couldn't do it now tho.

Oh yes, just loved that Woolly Bully dance - although it always seemed to end up with some people falling over and dragging everyone else down with them. Watch it now, watch it now, here she comes, you gotta take a chance, you're gonna learn to dance, oh woolly bully etc etc (or words to that effect :D) Used to do it at the Mojo too, iirc.

Is Max Omare still around? Maybe he's a member of SF?

 obviously I had the wrong words! You're right though, it was mostly "wooly bully" :hihi:

Uno, dos, one, two, tres, quatro

Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw.

Had two big horns and a wooly jaw.

Wooly bully, wooly bully.

Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.

Hatty told Matty, "Let's don't take no chance.

Let's not be L-seven, come and learn to dance."

Wooly bully, wooly bully

Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.

Matty told Hatty, "That's the thing to do.

Get you someone really to pull the wool with you."

Wooly bully, wooly bully.

Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.
