Any nicely priced gyms in the city?

i don't want a poser's paradise, don't want a direct debit or contract. I do want a laid back friendly but clean and well equipped place, any recommendations?

99.9% off gyms in the area require a contact and payment by dd. unless yo go pay as you go @ pond forge or other leisure centres

There's a gym at Walkley that used to be called unicorn, not sure what it is now but its opposite the walkley cottage pub. I used to pay about 180 for the year and go as many times you like. If i went on a PAYG basis, was £3.

There's one at Burton street that doesn't require a direct debit. You have to join as a member, but just pay £3 each time you want to use it.

 

I've not used it myself as I use Fitness First, but I use the boxing centre upstairs from it and know someone that uses the gym downstairs from time to time in addition to his training. He reckons it's a decent enough gym.

if your goin to be a regular, then you would prob be better goin DD as in the long run its cheaper. i used to go to ponds forge, but it's always busy, the equipment aint great and the clientel isnt great either. now i go to the virgin gym, its more expensive, but well worth it.

I agree, I use Fitness First 4-5 times a week and for that I pay £27 per month via direct debit. If I used other gyms on a pay as you go basis I'd be paying a lot more.

does anyone know of any in the handsworth, darnall, mosbro, crystal peaks area, i'd like one near to work or near to home.
