mikeG
Are the Greycats on the list? Now known as Pat Leslie and the Greycats. I was in a group called the Raiders - we mainly did St Columbas, Crosspool on a Saturday night and a few firemen's balls.
Guest Spinball
From an earlier post - Cleopatra became Cincinatti and put an album out on Music For Nations. John Grainger (guitar) plays the clubs in the Brown Bottle Blues Band. As for Stringheart - they got a genuine Sheffield connection when Chris McMahon (bass - Haze, Treebeard, Outlandish Knights, CRF and about a dozen other bands - in fact a good chunk of the list on his own, LOL) joined. Quick correction. Cincinatti was formed by (Adams' Grammar School in Shropshire) friends Roy McLeod (bass), Andy Bassett (guitar) and Stuart Wright (me on drums), with locals John Grainer on guitar and Mick Cantwell singing. We had nothing to do with Cleopatra. After the recording of our Dark Side demo, Mick left to join Baby Tuckoo and Roy took over on vocals. In early '90 we changed our name to Big Chill, keeping Cincinatti for the club gigs at weekends which paid the bills. Or more often didn't. Big Chill won the Music For Nations record deal via the Metal Hammer competition. We tried to produce the album ourselves and made a mess of it. December 1992 when it became clear we weren't going to be rich and famous, and money ran out, I quit and moved back down to the Midlands, playing only one gig after that - our friend and roadie Martin Sommers' wedding reception back in Sheffield. Big Chill stopped at that point but Andy, John and Roy carried on in various bands. John is the only one still playing.
Snowdog63
Remember Big Chill well...some of their live stuff and a couple of promo vids are on Youtube They appeared at least twice on the box...James Whale show was one of them They also had a session on the Radio 1 Friday Rock Show. Saw them on the same bill as Cleopatra at the Library Theatre...Big Chill were closer to Thin Lizzy whereas Cleopatra were more Bon Jovi Both good bands but Chill had the edge for my money
