Waypher
I can't see this stunt costing Saab very much. Based on a generous average private annual mileage of 15000 per year, it's going to take you over 66 years to reach a million. So if you pass your test at 18, buy a brand new Saab, and drive it until you are 84, they'll give you a new one......Brilliant !
ear8dmg
Er, how come someone decided to revive this thread? Sudden jump from 2007 until today? And aren't Saab "pining for the fjords" as they say?
davidwebb
When I worked as a courier my little ford escort diesel van had 192000 miles on the clock when I sold it all original apart from tyres brakes and battery.
tzijlstra
In Sweden you will see many old model Saabs and Volvos, having done well over 400k kilometres. We sold our 850 in the Netherlands with 240k on the clock (2007) to a Polish friend who recently sold it on with 390k, he had it maintained to schedule and it never had anything wrong except that the air-con didn't work any more. neeeeeeeeeek
My petrol 54 plate 630i has 141k and I can't see how a brand new one could drive any differently. It's like new car.
sierraman
Highest I've driven was a xj6 4.0 that had done 228k
lipschitz
Years ago I bought an ex company mondeo with 192k on the clock. It had full service history, original engine and gearbox and was only a 1.6 engine. It sounded fantastic and the gearchange was better than a friends 1.6 escort with just 26,000 miles on it. It seems to me to be down to the style of driving the car is subjected to. Before I bought my Subaru 10 years ago, I looked around for any information on reliability and found some in the states which were getting close to half a million miles on them. That's why I bought it and am still running it now, 2.5 legacy saloon with 220,000 miles on the clock. Original engine and gearbox, just normal service items replaced. As I'm not into having a new or nearly new car, I intend to keep it until it becomes too unreliable and expensive to run.
flynnroy
strange one as Saab's are really vauxhall's old Volvo's have Renault engine's and newer Citroen ,Peugeot, fiat's are all the same with different badges guess it down to how they have been serviced etc i always use good oil brands castrol gtx, but you can go on one oil better than the other etc mechanic told me when younger oil is oil not matter what you put it as long as you change it every 7k as he swore bye it now with modern engine's needing thinner oil Fully Synthetic etc
