Ice creams vans and local shops

Anyone remember Aggies ice cream van - used to love the jam sandwich - wafer with jam and then ice cream. I lived in the Wadsley Bridge area - and also remember Hadfields newpaper shop, Stathers chemists.

I think I remember Stathers Chemist. Was it on the shops opposite the white horse?

 

I remember the first shop was a butchers and somewhere on there there was a hairdressers upstairs.

Yes Stathers was in the group of shops opposite the White Horse, I thin there was also a food shop called Burdalls but the old brain is a bit sluggish.

Every Sunday Aggie used to stop at our house at the top of Browning Road, and I would rush out with a tanner and my dad's pint pot! This was the only time I got ice-cream, although if my Aunty Elsie from the Manor came for tea, my mother would send me out to the Walls van(I still remember the chimes) to buy a brick of ice-cream.
