gmarshman
Hello Jarvis Cocker, Club 60 opened probably 1960 and I used to go there regularly. Was still at school! No alcohol in club, so you had to get a pass out to a local pub. Club 60 was my first introduction to The Blues and Rock/Blues. Thought I had died and arrived in heaven, but you couldnt buy any of the music at that time .Drugs were rife although did not indulge. The atmosphere in the cellar was electric. You could cut the air with a knife with the smoke. H.& S. would not pass for safety today. Think first record you were able to buy relating to Blues was Alexis Corner . A revelation then. When Esquire opened we went there and Club 60 closed. I understand it is opened again for recording sessions . Gary Marshman , North Wales
rubydazzler
Is it still as it was? I'd love to go and take a look down there sometime, just for the memory lane trip. Is it ever open to the public?
