Someone jog my memory please

There's a parade of shops on Ecclesall road next to Berkeley Precinct, the row with Coffee Revolution in the middle. I know the building hasn't always been shops because I can remember when it was being redeveloped, but for the life of me I can't think what was there before. Someone here must know!

1972 after Berkley precinct was built it was Refrigeration Contracts ltd plus Hartleys potted meat. they were 463 to 479. the coffee shop is 471.I think that is the building where i went for an examination re national service 1960, went in RAF for two years.

You are quite correct. I went there to sign on in the army in December 1951.

I would be interested to know what was on the Berkeley Precinct site before it was built.

Was it an orchard or some sort of market garden .... hence the nearby pub being called The Nursery Tavern? I think it might have been part of the grounds of the old snuff mill which is at the back there?

That building was indeed the "potted-dog" factory, a couple of family members of my first bf worked there. The potted dog was nice, (I ate meat in those days)
