sandie
Ther used to be a set of stamps displayed in the square and we all used to say we will meet under the stamps in the late 60's.It was a good meeting point for the people you met the night before eithr the Heartbeat or Top Rank. sandie
Hi Butchill, Not quite 64 but a young 56 yes the stamps were in the square not on the GPO corner. I used to work for the GPO in the late 60's at the HPO the stamps were displayed and well illuminated in the centre of the square, it was the talk of the town. Joanl
learn something new everyday dont you Me too, only stamps I can recall where I think on a wall just inside. We met on the corner and under the clock just below Coles, (can't remember the shop it belonged to). I do remember the steps though in the far corner of the GPO, that we went down to get to the bus station.....flew down them a few times to catch the last bus....
