Jordan2006
What's everyones views on the smoking ban soon to be in place? I (as a light smoker) think that yes there are benefits, i.e peoples health etc who are using the pub, but i also think the pubs should choose whether or not they want to implement the ban. People will not use pubs as much if they cannot smoke there, as a lot of people enjoy socialising with a pint and a cigarette. I as a light smoker myself agree with the landlord should have the descission whether 2 allow or disallow smoking
fuzzy
Yes i agree with it, and i am a smoker. Have given up many times and it is the pub where i always cave in, hopefully it will help me and many others stop.

alchresearch
I'm in favour as regards pubs etc, but the regulation making it a criminal offence to smoke in my truck is a preposterous and unacceptable piece of class war from middle class scum.(Who don't drive lorries) I've never understood why it's ok to smoke in a car, but not to eat or drink. A dropped lit cigarette is going to be more risky that a dropped apple or sandwich.
susiepoosie
I visited a friend in Edinburgh last weekend and had forgotten about the smoking ban up there but boy does it make a difference! The bars I went in were still packed to the rafters but I didn't come out with my hair and clothes stinking, a sore throat and runny eyes....it was great! I'm not against people who enjoy/want to smoke just as long as I don't have to be around it! :gag:
dynamicdebz
I was forced to stop smoking nearly 3 weeks ago because of a ban where I work at NGH. So if it made me stop smoking after smoking for 25 years & on 30 a day then yes it should be banned coz many more will live a longer life. I never tried giving up before & still suffering & having urges but it's the best thing I have done. But guess what, my work mates who smoke have found a new smoking den that no one knows about, so I could've got away with it & carried on but again it's done me a favour. No, lets not relocate anywhere its likely to impact on anyone else. I don't want to stop anyone smoking, its a personal choice, but please do it in your own home. I'm an ex smoker, 20 a day for 30+ years, and if I'd known the risks I may never have started! I also realise stopping isn't easy. Back in the 60's everyone (well it seemed like everyone) smoked. The health risks were not an issue! But only someone who's been living in a cave isn't aware these days of the risks to themselves and others. Its also a deeply unpleasant experience for everyone in close proximity to a smoker.
