Big Barn in Derbyshire (ish) Wanted for big Banquet ??

I'm really struggling to find a big barn for hire.

 

Has anyone been to a big banquet/ barn dance/ re-enactments around Sheff/derbyshire ? Know a farmer who rents his barn out?

 

I'm organising my friends wedding and she wants to do it Robin Hood Stylee, preferably in a wood and have a barn, spit-roast whole pigs, drinking ale from flaggons, straw bale seats etc. You get the picture.

 

Any ideas for venues? I'm really drawing a blank on the internet, it's just sending me to posh hotel barns which cater themselves.

My brother had his wedding on a raft on Ulley reservoir, the bride and bridesmaids arrived by yacht, then they went on to have the reception at Whiston Manorial Barn.

Catering was done by Sheffield Cutlers hall for the sit down meal and in the evening they had a Ceilidh with this band http://www.rhythmchaps.co.uk/ and a pig roast buffet.

The Barn at whiston looks great.

I've checked out the Scouts outdoor education cantre, but they only hire out to scouts and schools.

The only problem with the Whiston Barn is that it doesn't have much outdoor space if I recall correctly

 

Sorry about the scout camp - I thought they might hire out to other groups.

It might be an idea to post on some re-enactment forums to ask, as they would have more idea about venues which let you do your own catering etc.

 

Maybe outdoor activiy centres might be willing to rent out a barn. Whirlow Hall farm may have a barn to rent - I know they are short on money so could be worth asking
