My first car was a red D-reg Ford Fiesta.. cost me £30 and it got me all over the country for about 3 years before it had to go up to car-heaven! My second car cost me £199 and she's a blue Maestro. I've had her for 2 years and she is very economical and cheap to run!

My first car was a 1969 ford escort, this was in 1984,had the best time ever in this car,the gear leaver had a habit of coming off in your hand, what fun it was trying to thread it back on while doing 50 mph, also none of the locks worked and you could start it with a screwdriver,in fact once when in skeggy my mate "stole" it and couldn't remember where he left it,it took hours to find it,when we did it was blocking someones drive with both doors wide open, god knows how it didn't get towed away, the fact that my "mate" couldn't drive and had drunk around 10 pints did'nt seem to bother him at the time, need

less to say he wasn't my mate for much longer.

Wouldn't swap the good times i had in that car for the world though, wish i still had it.

The first car was a small (very small) NSU.

I bought it very cheap from my Father in Law with one stipulation.

Ihad to give him and his two mates a lift to work every morning.

This didn't sound a bad deal until I picked them up the following morning when it suddenly dawned on me whay I had got myself into.

First of all I picked up Frank and the Father in Law and noticed they both insisted in sitting in the back.

I drove on to pick up Harry and then realised, he wasa well over 20 stones and huge with it, the only place he could sit was in the front passenger seat.

That seat groaned and sqeaked u nder the weight and for the rest of the trip we were all leaning to one side and taking a corner was hazardous to say the least.

I had difficulty getting to the gear stick to change gear.

Harry had great trouble getting out of his seat and at one point I feared he was going to take the seat with him.

They all shouted 'Good morning' and 'We'll see thi' to'neet.

When they had all got out I nearly cried, there I was owning my first car and it didn't look as if it was going to last the week out.

I'll always remember the first Thursday night when I stopped to drop Frank Off.

He said, 'Don't pick me up in't morning, I don't work Fridays'.

I asked, 'Why do you only work 4 days, Frank'?

He responded, 'Cus I can't manage on three'.

That little car did last me and we had a few laughs going back and forth to work.

Happy Days!

The Lotus Elise S1.

One of the best looking cars ever.

The finest handling road car I have ever driven, arguably the best in the world!

The most fun you can have with your clothes on.

You can pick one up for around 13k - that's Ford Focus money!!

Cheap to tune, cheap to run.

Black with black wheels is best...

The car I remember most fondly was a 2 litre mk 5 Ford Cortina, red with stylish patches of grey primer and a few minor dents from other drivers, [no honestly, never my fault] I used to go into town and run friends home from Rebels and on odd occasions even picked total strangers up from bus stops if it was raining. If that car could talk there's one lady in particular who would be red faced.

I still miss her [the car that is] nicknamed The Tank, as anything that ran into me always came off worse

my first car was a B-reg Austin metro in sky blue. bought it for 200 quid and it had been owned by some old dear who only ever used to drive it to the shops down the road, it only had 13,000 miles on the clock and that was in 1997!! very fond memories of that car, cried my eyes out when it had to be scrapped, but i removed the number plate and it now hangs up on the wall!!

Incidently it was called the Mirth Mobile, what did you call your cars ?!

My first car was a Datsun (now Nissan for you 'kids') Cherry 'Coupe'. It was 'R' reg and I think it was about 14 years old when I got it, maybe more. Sadly, it was killed on London Road by a Yorkshire Terrier Bus. :(

I remember loving it because it had a tachometer. However, age and a very small engine prevented any high speeds.

Other cars have been a Ford Escort ('B' reg), a Ford Fiesta van (X reg) and a Toyota Celica ('E' reg).

The van was my favorite, I think. It was incredibly reliable, and all my university mates used to pile in the back and role around as I took corners. As a bonus, it developed a unique odor all of its own. :/

My current car is a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi and my dream car is an Aston Martin Vanquish.

  • 6 years later...

First car was a 1932 J2 MG sports. Bought for £4/10/- off a Broomhill chap who went on to run Mappin Motors. Got it runnable and sold it for £50 to a student. Reg MG 1851. Needed serious wheels to go pubbing round Derbyshire so bought a 1958 Minor 1000 ex Sheffield CID car for £175. It had 135000 on the clock but lasted me for 3 years.
