gettingon
Gettingon, Thank you for your observations. I definitely agree with you -it is about having fun. Go on and play those drums. You may like Art Blakey .A driving force on drums in the Jazz Messengers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6gDt5I3pw8 ---------- Post added 18-02-2017 at 11:22 ---------- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IQNPlnc9c0 Tommy Chase: Vastly underrated hard bob drummer. Dress sense impeccable You'll have to forgive his language. Fast forward the video a little. mountains/cycling/hiking/returning to the cabin in the forest/knack'd-cold/hot shower/hot food/soft caring loving attractive (inside and outside) woman/warm log fire/ a couple fingers of fine bourbon/the rush of a mountain creek 15 feet away ... there's not many accomplished jazz drummers that i don't like, i've listened to a lot of them...(remind me to link you to the steve gadd shuffle vid sometime - it's easy, just watch him) i don't always need pyrotechnics in my drummers.i appreciate many styles. have a listen to the following. chris frantz is a human metronome. just spot on all the way through. don't think i'd have the patience or discipline to play this ... i have a penchant for changing signatures on drums ... the band can keep on playing, (i'll be fine and catch up later) but still i admire frantz's drumming. here's a clean cut example ... then here's a "dirtier" version of the same song...tina weymouth on bass is the drummers (frantz) wife, david byrne the very creative lead singer/guitarist and that looks like adrian belew on guitar. so much good music.
