Phanerothyme
I suppose it could all be a big conspiracy to boost research funding for climate scientists.

Phanerothyme
OTOH this is what the vested interests had to say when the CFC/Ozone Depletion theory began to gain attention: The Chair of the Board of DuPont was quoted as saying that ozone depletion theory is "a science fiction tale...a load of rubbish...utter nonsense". So there are some similarities. More so than the Y2K analogy at least.
Phanerothyme
Yes! Yes! Yes! no, no. Climate change research funding is in the process of being cut (uk figures). Go figure as they say.
Greybeard
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/03/19/sunspot_drought/ Another foolhardy scientist hasn't got the message. For pursuing this kind of heresy he could wake up one morning to find himself staked out in the outback without his eyelids, - to study sunspots at his leisure

Scientist already agree that solar activity does effect climate.
Crayfish
There can be more than one factor affecting global climate! The sun certainly does, and in my opinion (and that of 90-95% of people who've bothered to read into it), we also do. Best bet is to look into the literature, you don't have to go too deep to pull out the major points. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles that explains a lot of the solar component. Greybeard
Scientist already agree that solar activity does effect climate. I don't think it matters very much now what scientists agree on. Politicians have the bit between their teeth that CO2 is the major cause and are going to hang on to that perception at any cost because it is something they can use to raise revenue. It will take decades before we can be absolutley certain what has caused the global temperature rise over the last thirty years by which time our current batch of politicians, and their cronies in the scientific community, will either be dead or too senile to care whether they were right or wrong.
