Sorry i should have said.the online sheffield library only has around 35% or so on their website.If you go into the local studies library they have the same site but have all the pics on Ipopped in on my last visit to sheffiel last xmas.

when i originaly went in 1992 you had to look through a series of cards then have the originals fetched up from the vaults.

 

i have a couple of photocopys here.i will find them and email them to you.will let you know when i have them.

Just tuned in for picture 5! Great stuff - you freaked me out about the rats though! got a real phobia about them and I always put it down to seeing so many as a kid down the cliffe due to the demolition of the houses etc!

 

Keep up the good work - really enjoying it! my OH wants to know why I'm sat with a big grin on my face listening to you! He just doesn't have the memories I have about the 'cliffe! A great place to spend your childhood.

Glad you are still watching.It did go quiet towards the end of the week on the forums Hoped it wouldn,t fall flat.Spent most of my day today recording and loading up to picture 12.start to wander around away from the street in the next lot.

I didn't like the rats either.never so any in the garden though (just moggies).Was great with the torches ,just one of the many things that we managed to aquire (nabbed) on our adventures.

Another memory you might have is of the two ice cream vans on the side road next to Banners, as I recall they were from different companies and used to park bang opposite each other plying for trade.

been looking at the videos brilliant i lived a bit further up the road from cliffe on harrogate rd went to hammerton school but spent a lot of time down cliffe had many friends down there great times and memories keep up the good work

Hi steve1953 - I also went to Hammerton - left around '76 ish. Here are a couple of pictures taken of how it is now. These were taken yesterday (5th April 07) on a trip down memory lane! What a sad sight, judge for yourself.
