Mantaspook Posted April 22, 2007 Share Posted April 22, 2007 At least you had a nice smooth landing, I remember reading a book about flying boats, the author described one hair raising technique they used for landing across a swell which involved them side slipping upwind and stalling the aircraft ‘onto the top of a wave’ (hopefully) then turning rapidly into the wind before it was flipped over. The seaplane captains are a special breed and they’re all bloomin’ mad, it used to be said that a good landing was one you could walk away from, in the seaplane world the equivalent would be ‘one you could swim away from’ Your pilot was obviously a good one, he must have been to disdain the lack of cockpit gauges and just rely on his skill instead.
