At least you had a nice smooth landing, I remember reading a book about flying boats, the author described one hair raising technique they used for landing across a swell which involved them side slipping upwind and stalling the aircraft ‘onto the top of a wave’ (hopefully) then turning rapidly into the wind before it was flipped over.

The seaplane captains are a special breed and they’re all bloomin’ mad, it used to be said that a good landing was one you could walk away from, in the seaplane world the equivalent would be ‘one you could swim away from’

Your pilot was obviously a good one, he must have been to disdain the lack of cockpit gauges and just rely on his skill instead. I'm impressed he even found the time to pat the doggy – what a guy!
