Mantaspook
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM. A letter from the front.
shoeshine
That is a great piece of writing, Mantaspook, and well worth reading to it's finale.
pattricia
Yes, what a magnificent piece of work. I just leave it to other members to comment about this letter, but how can we put our work forward after this ?
shoeshine
Every letter I have read with respect to this month's contributions related to the Monthly Theme have been really outstanding in novelty, imagination and quality, pattricia. I hope there will be many more innovative contributions yet to come. I have yet to make my own contribution, and I agree, against such great competition from the "Writing" Members to-date it's going to be really hard to find the two winners of the prizes on offer for the successful candidates. I hope we get many more contributions too. Mantaspook and I are barred from winning any prizes on this Group......and it's still a competition wide open for all who choose to take up the challenge. pattricia
I have to say I do believe the £10 book voucher helps as well, dont you shoeshine .?
shoeshine
I have to say I do believe the £10 book voucher helps as well, dont you shoeshine .? The true value is in the "winning" of a competition per se, of course.

sauerkraut
I'm glad shoeshine mentioned reading to the finale as I nearly missed the end because it was on a separate page - presumably intentional? Talk about a twist in the tale!! Very cleverly done (By the way, this forum needs a "hats off" smiley...)
Hopman
Something Remarque-able about this story. There was the case of the composer who wrote a military march at this time. Someone said that it was too fast to be a march, so he replied "I wrote it for the retreat."
coyleys
Yet another good one. Wrote with a bit of compassion, and I agree with Sauerkraut about the smileys that would have got the first hats off.
