RoseHadi
I remember well the "rag man" coming on our street (Ferneough) in the 50's - I always tried to get the whip and top - great game, kids today don't know what they are missing!!
BLITZER
I always had the balloons, myself. I think Ma must have had enough pegs. Anyone get the Walls ice cream fella round their way? He'd cycle round Hackenthorpe selling ice cream and lollies from a huge grey-blue box attached to his bike. Poor sod must have been worn out at the end of his shift. His tricycle would bear the legend "Stop me and buy one".
Alastair
I heard a rang and bone man recently and I thought they were extinct now. Today I noticed that the rag and bone mans place on Hill Street next to the Sheldon pub just off London Road looks still in business.
