Hi all, I lived on Longley Avenue in the 50s,I remember playing cricket across the road,hardly any cars to bother about. Going fishing up to the seven ponds,and having winter warmers when playing on the meadows. I also was a paper boy for the newsagent near Shirecliffe Road,I think it was called Bretts ! . Also collecting scrap copper cable from the tip, but never able to make any money out of it.

i lived on musgrave loved playing on the tip, and collecting empties to take back to arches....and those chips with salt and vinegar on....happy days

wow great thread is this although not from shirecliffe (longley) had many happy hours around there the tip and the graveyard used to be our playgrounds in the 70s anyone remember bishopsholme (the bish) another of our hangouts a couple of names come to mind andy west, albert thompson. anyone remember the discos at the timbertop circa 1976 great times had there .
