stifflersmom
What can Sheffield city center offer that places like Meadowhall carnt? Atkinson’s, John Lewis, Moore market.... wow oh and rip off parking. Pubs, restaurants, theatres, museums, art spaces, music venues; and not all associated with the night-time economy either. Mikes10
Apparently the Retail Quarter plans have been revived and are now called "Heart of the City II" https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/sheffield-s-24-year-wait-for-retail-revamp-can-revised-469m-plans-finally-allow-city-to-compete-with-leeds-and-manchester-1-9058207

Seems more achievable than demolishing John Lewis, rearranging the roads etc. I don't think online shopping is going away any time soon, so less focus on shops in the scheme is a good thing IMHO. modforlife
Let’s hope it can attract shops to pull shoppers away from Meadowhall , Leeds and Manchester . In my opinion it’s vital we do, we don’t need any more Home Bargains, Poundland’s, and Pound Stretchers . We need to attract shoppers that will spend , stop in our hotels , use the restaurants and bars . Tell their friends and come back again.
