Josie's was a tacky wannabe hangout masquerading as a 'classy' joint. It wasn't. Full of plastic-gangsters and old slappers mostly?

And why "Josephine's" name? She was Napoleon Bonaparte's first wife, whom he divorced after a childless marriage?

ha ha i take it you wernt allowed in then too upper class:hihi:

Josephine's Nightclub

I remember Josephine's from the mid 90's onwards.

One doorman was Nigel, a man of a mountain with a guesstimated weight of 57 stones. I liked him.

I recall the marvellous Kath who worked in the wine bar. Kath had so much energy when one considers that she worked most days in the Roebuck pub (she used to nibble at my chips and onion rings) from opening time 'til after lunch then at the Surrey pub until her evening shift at Josephine's. She once told me that she worked an average 75 per week, but always went shopping with her mother on her day off, which was Thursdays. Kath was and probably still is a most truly wonderful person, intelligent, humourous, good looking and what a body (wow)! I haven't seen her for about 14 year or so and I hope she is well.

I once saw ex-Sheffield United player Jostein Flo and his Mrs in the wine bar boozed up as usual. She went off to the dance flo-or to do some jiving and left her hand bag with her hubby. A pair of minutes later he started to absent mindedly swing the bag around and around gradually picking up speed until the bag suddenly opened up spraying her make-up stuff and her other monkeys and parrots all over the show. It was so funny I nearly wazzed myself. I hadn't laughed so much since the family budgie died, and that was in the 60's.

Carlton Palmer ex-Sheffield Wednesday player was oft to be seen in Josephine's too. We always greeted each other and had a little chat about football. The interesting thing was, when he introduced me to his woman I always kept a sincere friendly face because, almost every time it was a different woman. We men have to stick together you know!

Zakes.

Most of them were actually on duty getting paid for nothing.

It was the dark days of the Sheffield Police force.

Some of the regular coppers in Josies were Terry Price, Brian Wilson, Farnsworth, and Storer, the latter got locked up for being bent in the metals case, another one called "King" got time for dealing drugs with Tony Bashforth.

All a lot of sheffield coppers thought they had to do was verbal suspects up and then flit around Sheffield night clubs and pubs larging it up.

Ronald Sagar of Humberside police was brought in and they soon had to clean their act up.

You are right about that mob of tossers ,I Was in the Nags Head on Shalesmoor one night and the place was packed with coppers who were on a murder inquiry ,[Anita used to do after bird] i asked them how they were going to catch a murderer while they were all drinking after bird they told me to go away and multiply one of the above jumped on his radio when it came on asking for info the whole pub was in an uproar.
