honestjoe69
I've seen that lately there have been quite a few local kickboxing tournaments. I was just wondering how does the different weight classes work, is it the same as boxing? Any info would be appreciated.
chefkicker
Hi "honestjoe" The weight classes vary from governing body to governing body. You can expect it to be as follows : Amateur (used to be used by WAKO , WMAC and many other associations) 51kg= Flyweight , 54kg = Bantamweight, 57kg= Featherweight, 60kg= Light weight , 63.5kg= Light welterweight , 67kg = welterweight , 71kg= light middle , 75kg= middleweight, 81kg= light heavyweight, 86kg= cruiserweight, 91kg= heavyweight , 91kg+ = superheavyweight. Now these used to be the same as the old amateur boxing divisions (whihc have changed recently)
