cher
Hi List, I attended Wybourn school and I wondered if there where any of my old classmates on the Sheffield Forum? What are your memories of your school days. I believe I left around 1967 or 1968 when I was one of the first girls to attend Hurlfield comprehensive school. My maiden name was Shirley Oakman does this ring any bells with anyone. Cher Edited October 6, 2020 by nikki-red

cher
Hi List, Thanks to all who replied but the Wybourn people where always a great bunch. Names that I can remember where Albert Strafford, Janet Wilding,Michael Fieldhouse,Jill Ford, Susan Mellor, Pauline Yates(I think) and Lynn Jubb. Think I will be thinking about this all night, like counting sheep<vbg> I was born on Southend place and also lived on Maltravers Cresent, Boundary Road and the prefabs on Sky Edge Avenue, wonderful days. Coyley seems to ring a bell wonder if you where in my year or if I knew you from the Wybourn estate. Wonder if anybody remembers the play centre at the school which was like a youth club. The highlight for me was the seaside trip from the Wybourn Hotel when we used to line up for our coach with a ticket attached to our coats. We had a pop, crisps and sandwiches on the coach, lunch when we got there and ten bob to spend a fortune in those days. Cher

I remember the coach trips from the park gardeners WMC, one crate of pop for the kids and 15 crates of booze for the parents, then singing ten green bottles and if you sat at the front of the couch you would invariably get an half eaten jubbly at the back of the neck, good times, but i suspect not much fun for the driver on the way back, with half a coach of tired screaming kid and half of drunken parents. You may remember me from school or 95 Maltravers Cres, where i lived till i was about 20. Nostalgia arnt what it was Mick

justmeagain
Hi all, Yes to Trecker I am the Shirley Oakman who lived on Sky Edge Avenue. Wonder who you are did you live on the avenue or do you know me from school. To Pauline Christine Casey seems to mean something to me. I had two friends that where a year or two older than me one I believe had the name of Marylyn Richardson and my other friend was called Christine. Another lad I remember from my friends year group was Arnold Broughton. To Mick Coyley you told me that you where older and said you where due an inheritance, was this crisps, pop and ten bob. Ha men, just what are you like I ask you and I remember that I said see you at playtime. To PK014b7161 Wonder if you also remember St Johns Youth club on the Wybourn was a fun place to go to listen to records and meet others. Guess the Wybourn Estate has a strong place in my heart.
