pitsmoorlad
I remember standing on Rutland Rd bridge watching them go underneath, seem to recall people throwing bags of flour at them. The boat race finished at Lady's bridge I think. Not sure if it was above or below the weir.
sammyBoy
I remember standing on Lady's bridge, watching them getting pelted with eggs and flour. I am not sure, but I think the bridge was the finish line, but most rode the weir anyway for comedy value

pitsmoorlad
It would probably have been the Rag Day parade either the day before or after. My mum's always telling me how poor everyone was, so how come they could afford to waste all that food? Eggs, flour and tomatoes, could have made a tomato flan.
