retep
Went to have a look and the building is definately still there, its an office. The info about the building in the message above reads as if the building was two buildings, I can only assume it was a 'semi detached'. Thanks once again for the info. Looks like one building two addresses in the 1881 census,Jeffcock at 249, Beckett 251. 253 is a shared address Cooper in one Wilson in the other, I think this was the home of Helen Wilson of Helen Wilson Settlement, Rutland Hall, Rutland Road, and later 253 was a Dr Benardo Home
rubydazzler
There was a massive stone built church almost opposite St Catherine's but a bit further up on Burngreave Road - it was demolished and replaced with those awful flats, sometime in the 70s. I always thought it was called Christ Church. oops I just see what I typed, lol - got the wrong road!

Plain Talker
Christ Church is on Pitsmoor Road, (at the junction with Nottingham St) not Burngreave Road. There were a couple of churches on Burngreave Rd, one of which was the old Burngreave (Wesleyan) Methodist Church. (now replaced by a modern building, and a block of flats)(picture sheffield, here:- http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=s05025 there was also Wicker "Congs", at the junction of Burngreave Road and Ellesmere Road Picture sheffield:- http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=s15422 just round the corner, there was All Saints, on Ellesmere Rd http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=t02343
capricorn_11
I found another photograph of "Wicker Congs" on a different part of Picture sheffield. http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=s09196 but with more information, this time; which says the chuch was at the corner of Burngreave Road, and Ellesmere Road, so I presume it was near-ish to where the original library building, and vestry hall are, now. I remember All Saints still standing, a little further on, near the school on ellesmere road, many years ago. Wicker Congregational Church stood on the triangular bit of land opposite John Heaths and the old Library, I think there are park bench type seats there now where people can sit.
