Runaway Girl- a good place to run away from.

Drug Den:suspect:

alcohol is a drug, so in that respect you're right. but if you're referring to illegal drugs, then your allegation is not only untrue, it's also libellous. mods, please take note.

hi cath, good post. were you the gal with blonde hair and glasses sitting at the bar using a notebook just prior to your shift last night? if so, you didn't actually serve us but hi anyway

we've been in a few times and it's my favourite bar since mr kites in the late 70s. nothing has come close to mr kites imho but the runaway girl does. we ate at the RG for the first time last night; we had 3 tapas dishes each, and the food was AMAZING. im a complete foody, ive worked in catering and cooking is one of my passions, so i know what im talking about. the food was quite simply superb, and some of the best food ive ever eaten out in sheffield, and i come from sheff.

all the dishes were beautifully prepared and presented and tasted divine. the duck in red wine sauce was my favourite i think.

the service was good too, the gal with long blonde hair who served us was friendly and warm. again, ive worked in enough bars and restaurants here, in manch and in london, to know bad staff when i see them, and the staff at the runaway girl are great.

unfortunately i have to get up early most days as that's when im freshest for working so i tend not to go out late, and have missed a lot of the music nights, but i went to one on a saturday night with a drum n bass DJ a couple of months back and that was BRILLIANT. ive seen their northern soul dj, lofty, at 7 by 7 and he was great there so we're going to see him next time he's on at the RG. oh, and ive heard that the king mojo nights on a tuesday are good too so we're going there soon as well.

:banana::headbang::banana:

i can't recommend the place highly enough.

Yes, that was me. Thanks for all the kind words. Really glad you enjoyed your meals and thanks for picking up on the diversity of out different nights. Lofty's northern soul nights are really great. He's got the most amazing record collection ever and King Mojo's Tuesday night's offer something rather unique too.

Thanks so much and I'll pass this message on to Jess. That's the girl who served you last night. In my opinion, the team of staff at the moment are all brilliant.

It is not a drug den. That's ridiculous.

Is it.........I don't think so, how come a mate of mine and his wife went in last Friday and was being offered allsorts and having stuff put in his hand, he said no thanks but the scumbag wouldn't take no for an answer

Also hasn't it become a popular meeting place for the SUFC hooligan element.

as I say used to be good but now a drug den

If they had any kind of problems of this nature do you not think it would have been a better idea to alert one of the door men or bar staff. It was the monthly night that I personally promote and I am actually horrified if these allegations are true. If this 'scumbag' really exists then I find it odd that they didn't do themselves and other people a favour and alerted staff to his presence so he was escorted from the building. We have a zero tolerance towards drug use and have never really had any problems before. We are open very late and it has so far been a very safe place to party. I was obviously there all night on Friday. We had no bother whatsoever and everybody there enjoyed themselves, it was a wicked night and I can't wait for the next one.

I am not aware of the bar being a hang out for football hooligans either.

No offence to you personally but this all sounds like a load of rubbish.

The rumour that it was a hang out for football hooligans I must admit was just a rumour that I had heard.

But.....The other is 100% true,I have been in your bar a couple of times and had always liked it, I even told my friend and his wife that it was a decent place, this is why he mentioned the incident to me on Saturday. Why should it be up to him to make a scene, he just turned to his wife and said "drink up love we're leaving" and they and some other friends left. If I was you I'd just keep an eye on who you let in and what's going on in your bar and don't let it turn into an undesirable hang out for scumbags.
