chefkicker
RESULTS: 1. Demo bout : AFK fighters who were not matched warmed the show up with a bit of sparring in front of the crowd. Both used tidy boxing combinations with strong body kicks from raw novice Peter Day and interesting head movement from Ravi Goyal. 2.Sunny Singh (AFK ) kept his unbeaten record against Dominic Tsui from cambridge to win every round. Sunny danced, showboated and even touched his toes in the middle of round two during this contest. TEAM EVENT : 1.Holly Mason (Cambridge )= 2 x Featherweight university ladies champion and former AFK fighter (had to get that in somewhere ) VS Valentina (oxford) Ladies Lightweight champion This was an interesting match up as it was 2 champions from 2 weight groups. Holly closed down valentinas kicking range and roughed her up on the inside forcing and 8 count in the 2nd round .Valentina came back in the last round with decent side kicks but it was far too late. Winner = Holly Mason 2. Middleweight Soren Demin (Cambridge) Vs Zac Etheridge (Oxford) This was called the veterans match as both students were over 25 Zac was too tall too skilfull and too experienced for Soren Winner = Zac Etheridge 3.Welterweight Leo Schwartz (Cambridge) Vs James Richardson Leo started well with his kicks but James was too strong for him and stopped him in the 2nd round with punches. Winner James Richardson (Oxford) by 2nd Round TKO 4.Superwelterweight Geoff Cunningham (Cambridge)= British university lightweight champion Vs Gatis Mikelsons (oxford) Geoff gave away 6kg in weight in this contest. Geoff started well with all manner of flashy kicks and long range boxing combinations but seemed to tire middle of the 2nd round. Gatis roughed him up with punches in the last to bring back the deficit. Result = DRAW !!! 5.Lightheavyweight contest Any Troup (cambridge) Vs Alex Beneke (Oxford) This fight was a WAR a lot of "hold and hit" and dirty boxing being used. Looked like a street fight. Winner= Alexe Beneke (Oxford) 6.Middleweight Chris Webb (cambridge) = the "secret weapon" black belt in both kung fu and kickboxing Vs Nik Aurora (Oxford) Chris was too experienced for Nik and the contest was stopped in the 3rd. Winner = Chris Webb (Cambridge) The end result Oxford won by 3 wins to 2 with one draw. Winners of the team match = OXFORD!!!
