Longley park open air baths!!

Recommended Posts

I do remember Longley baths circa 1956 to 1958 and would always look forward to going there , unitl the dreaded time to dive in . My goodness I can still remember the freezing water , but we had to be brave in front of the girls !

Am sure Kath and her mum and dad lived on Elm Lane 1950's and into 1964 ish , when they then moved to Shiregreen.

You mention you saw Kath 2007 attending her aunts funeral. Who was the aunt ?

It is many years since I saw Kath .

Hi all

I have some cine film taken at Longley Baths in the early 1960s - hoping to get it onto DVD soon.

Does anyone remember comedy skits that were put on for the audience - there is some film of this with people falling off the diving boards in costumes etc

Thanks

I spent many happy summer days in Longley pool. My sister who is 4 years older than me used to take me and yes the water was always freezing cold. I can also remember on days when we hadn't enough money to go in, we used to peep through holes in the wooden fence wishing we could get in. That was in the 60s ......... happy days.
