Honour killings. Why do they do it?

Recommended Posts

It's a problem particular to men, isn't it? And they don't have to be Asian, or Muslim. There is a British equivalent - you get the occasional instances where a white British man kills his female partner and their children because she left him.

Men needing to be in control. Plain and simple.

Oh, and the police in this case appear to have ignored their own guidelines - she went to them 4 times, and they just didn't take her seriously. Their own guidelines say they shouldn't approach other family members when alerted to these situations, but they did anyway.

the thing that worries me is, what will it be like in this country in 50 years time? if immigration from some of these primative countries continue it can't be for the benefit of this country. theres already plenty of problems with terrorism, honour killings, social division and crime etc. this must surely get worse if the numbers of these people increase.

Keep it in perspective, mikey. These are (thankfully) rare. Not rare enough, but rare.

How is that making an excuse? It's not excusable. It's just that no culture has a monopoly on people doing atrocious things, and there's no point pretending that it's otherwise.

I find it amazing these so called people are not charged with attempted murder.Iwould be.Going out on a limb here but what am i missing and whats happening in this country.

Whats happening is we are bending over backwards for these people because their communities are and always have been volatile and brutal and nobody dare rock the boat.

a englishman may kill his wife if she leaves him, but its nothing to do with honour.there wouldnt be a meeting between family members and the woman be put to death by the group.

There elements of Islam that are rightly a cause for concern.

Banning the expression of faith and closing places of worship is not the British way of doing things.

Do share it with the group Halibut other than "honour killings", what particular elements of Islam concern you?
