Honour killings. Why do they do it?

Recommended Posts

How is that making an excuse? It's not excusable. It's just that no culture has a monopoly on people doing atrocious things, and there's no point pretending that it's otherwise.

Cant it just be condemed without sf soap box on multiculturalism being wheeled out.If its wrong its wrong.

Whats happening is we are bending over backwards for these people because their communities are and always have been volatile and brutal and nobody dare rock the boat.

In what way are we 'bending over backwards' for these people?

Which people do you mean?

a englishman may kill his wife if she leaves him, but its nothing to do with honour.there wouldnt be a meeting between family members and the woman be put to death by the group.

But that doesn't make it any more acceptable, does it? When an Englishman kills his wife and kids, you don't get people lining up to ask what's wrong with English people. These "honour" killings are shocking but rare - they don't necessarily say anything about other people of the same culture, in the same way that an Englishman killing his wife and kids says anything about me or you.

Absolutely. It's wrong. And I didn't mention multiculturalism. Just making the point that if we're going to take the actions of a few men and then make generalisations about the rest of the people of the same ethnicity, then why don't we do the same for white English people? Of course, to do that would be stupid and unhelpful.

Yeah, give me a good old British brutal murderer any day of the week :loopy:

But is the British murderer protected by his peers? Is he assisted in his killing by friends and family?

Can he claim that its a religious right? Can he say that its in his blood because his father and grandfather and ancestors made a habit of it?
