tingle
Hello This is just a curiosity post really. I go swimming a few times a week at Hillsborough Leisure Centre between 7.30 and 8am and see the same people every time. Also go on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, but you don't see as many regulars then. Are any of these people Forummers? If so, give us a

jomarch
I have started going back after an absence of a couple of years. I go at different times because it gets so busy, and guess what? I go to swim- I find the people who just get in the water to chat really annoying- that's why I stopped going. I go other places for a social life. Sorry if this sounds harsh but... the facilities for swimming in Sheffield are crap.

Get yourself down to Ponds Forge on a Tues or a Thurs, full length 50m lane swimming and it is very rare for people to socialise in the pool. jomarch
Thanks philen, what times? I would go to ponds forge but it is a trek into town and where do I park? Maybe I'll try it if I get desperate! Saturday lunchtime wasn't too busy down Hillsborough, maybe I'll try that again!
philen
Free parking is a bit difficult nowadays around ponds forge but if you're willing to pay, they have their own car park underneath the building and there is also a public car park accessible from the roundabout. Fitzalan Sq. tram stop is close if coming by tram. I go in the afternoons but I think it's open first thing too, here's their link: http://www.ponds-forge.co.uk/content.php?nPageID=83 You want the "International Competition Pool". tingle
yes, I suppose there are usually sevearl older people hanging around in the slow lane and chatting of a morning. But so what? Those who want to swim can just duck under the ropes and swim in the fast or medium lane! I love the atmosphere at Hillsborough of a morning and like the way the 'socialites' always say hi to me as I get in and out.
