Does Sheffield have soul?

Recommended Posts

Sounds good!

Nice to see like-minded folk enjoying the grooves.

I miss the little house parties that Winnie/Parrot use to hold, plus the allnighters/alldayers held up and down the country too.

I also miss Robbie Vincent's radio show's.

Happy HAPPY days - lots of routines (formations), rewinds (DJ bring that beat back!, whistle posse! :hihi:

Those were the days when the DJ's "worked" the dancefloor!

If there is anywhere that plays stuff like:

The Whispers – And The Beat Goes On

Eighties Ladies – Turned On To You

Positive Force - We Got The Funk

Joyce Sims - All & All

Teena Marie - Behind The Groove

Rene & Angela - I'll Be Good

Unlimited Love - I Hear Music In The Streets

Gwen Guthrie - Padlock

David Bendeth - Feel The Real

Royalle Delite - I'll Be A Freak For You

Vaughan Mason - Bounce Rock Skate Roll

Weeks & Co - Looking For Fun

Bobby Thurston - Check Out The Groove (My very 1st 12"!)

Loose Ends - Gonna Make You Mine (any others will do - Best Brit soul band)

Aurra - Are You Single/Keep Doin It Right

52nd Street - I Can't Let You Go

Change - Glow Of Love

Thelma Houston - You Used To Hold Me So Tight

Roy Ayers - Poo Poo La La

It'll give me a reason to stop playing my 12"'s at home and "cut up a rug!"

Oh Frankie Wilson - Do I Love You..... now there's a tune!

A stone cold classic!

My favourite Northern tune at the mo is Fred Hughes's 'Baby Boy', thanks to Forever Changes for supplying me with that classic 45!

Oh, don't it just bring it all back.. Good to know that places like Qube, Tequila and Green Room are keeping the flag flying. I love Booch's playlist, some real gems on there, especially the Aurra track, anyone remember these:

So Fine/Keepin' Love New - Howard Johnson

Slide - Slave

Meet me Halfway There/Finesse - Glenn Jones

Talk to me - Lew Kirton

All my Life - Major Harris

This Beat is Mine - Vicky D

DJ's Delight - Ingram

Walkin' the Line - Brass Construction

Sooner or Later - Larry Graham

Wet my Whistle - Midnight Star

Show me the Way - New York Skyy

Out in the Night - Serge Ponsar

Stone Love - Kashif

Also loved Tony Prince and the DMC mixes he used to play - what a trip down memory lane! Anyone checked out Les Adams' show on Saturday night on Solar radio, he plays some crackin' tunes from the 70's and 80's.
