At 3.30pm this was the latest update: - Public transport is still operating but is under great strain. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Road Closures Heavy rain is causing some disruption to the road network. The following roads / areas are closed: Junction 34 of the M1 is now closed Attercliffe Road (Norfolk Bridge) Ball Street Bridge at Kelham Island Barrow Road Brightside Lane Cowley Lane in Chapeltown Fife Street at Wincobank Green Lane/Woolley Wood bottom in Ecclesfield Meadowhall Road Meadowhall Bus Station Mill Road in Ecclesfield Nursery Street Penistone Road Saville Street (Norfolk Bridge) Shiregreen Lane, outside Concord Sports Centre The Common in Ecclesfield The Wicker Upwell Street Whitley Lane in Ecclesfield Sheffield Road in Rotherham These roads / areas are also affected: Nearside Lane on Penistone Road by Hillsborough Park Europa Link Darfield - Stonyford Road, Station Road and Low Valley Area Thurnscoe - Park Road - Dearnlea Residential Home has been evacuated Please note that general traffic is being allowed to go through the tram gates at Hillsborough. andco Posted June 25, 2007 Share Posted June 25, 2007 An SHU contact is apparently still stuck out at Collegiate Crescent site and is I gather having difficulty getting back in to the City Centre Campus - they were due back there at 3pm. Advice is to travel tomorrow. This is the latest, but click the link for further updates: "Due to flooding in the Clay Cross area we are currently unable to run any services north of Derby. The following services from St Pancras to Derby/ Sheffield are cancelled this evening: 1925 2025 2125 2225 Sheffield Station has been evacuated due to flooding in the station. Nottingham services are currently running OK at the moment. Customers who have tickets for today and are unable to travel due to the the flooding, these tickets will be valid for travel tomorrow. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to your journey today. We will update this message as soon as more information becomes available.
