Ally_Fraser
anyone know how full or if they are going to burst their banks at derwent and ladybower No chance, they've got such control of the water in those 3 it'll never happen. Although I'll feel a bit sorry for Hathersage if the ladybower wall ever does go.
s14rich
if the dam goes we will be flooded in kilnhurst, rotherham half of the main road as now gone, due to all the road foundations being ripped up by the water and took down stream, bad news is if ulley does go, which is only a matter of time, a lot more houses will be flooded, not in sheffield but in rotherham and doncaster due to it flooding down to catcliffe then into the river rother through brinsworth and canklow then joining the don at westgate in rotherham then on towards doncaster, which will be a major disatser especially for rotherham town centre! Hope it doesn't go, but it will at some stage, maybe on saturday maybe, the only real way it will affect sheffield, is the M1 will be closed at rotherham and it will hit the power sub station at canklow in rotherham, which supllies most of sheffields power. hels1977
That's a cheery thought. How about less speculation and more fact. It is not a matter of time, repairs have been very sucessful and if they choose to do the job properly and drain the water for a full repair they will wait until they can pump out the water and take it someone else in a controlled fashion. Honestly - people on here have enough to worry about without more doom and gloom!

s14rich
lol, but it's true, you cant carry out these works unless the dam is fully emptied, which it currently isn't and trust me one of my best mates is a firefighter up at ulley currently, and they know they can't stop it, but they wont tell the public this, as their would be panic, only way to get it repaired is to empty it mostly to re construct all the sides, even rotherham council are keeping things to to themselves currently. Also the water as currently gone to rotherham and doncatser, this is part of whats flooding doncaster now!

hels1977
Is he a part time structural engineer? No but his best mate is a fireman so he must be right S14Rich - perhaps you should look here before you continue your outstanding scaremongering efforts: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showpost.php?p=2383940&postcount=
tom3t0
if they are pumping it into catcliffe would it not be best to begin pumping it into containers, which can be sealed? weve got a load of water that could come in handy at some point
alchresearch
wer has the 15million litres they pumped out of ulley dam gone Into Catcliffe. Which is why it's still under water with no clear sign of when people can go back.
LibertyBell
What a stupid idea someone put forward on the radio. Everyone who is served by the ulley reservoir should turn their taps on at the same time to help empty it. then all the water won't pour down the valley keeping the villages flooded.....hang on a mo.....would that work? anyone know?
