Tony
The situation appears to be very serious so please ensure that you have taken any precautions, especially if you have babies or the infirm. If the electricity goes off, other services such as water, gas, telephones, etc may also go off until emergency services are restored. I'm sure that there are proper contingency plans in place but three might be a few hours when it all goes a bit odd. SF may well go down too. richard
Does any one have a guess as to how much time it would take to rebuild a substation? Would that be necessary?
THEMike
The danger's of 2nd hand news, the following emerged to be untrue, or an exaggeration based on mis-understandings: A collegue's husband works for the council. Information just received: The damn has burst, the pylons at threat have been knocked down. I can't vouch for this, just reporting what I have just been told. THEMike
Further disussion: The "Burst" may be the few small breaches already rumoured. Given we've still got power, I suspect it's not burst.
