Mexican food - what are your thoughts Sheffield?

. . I wonder if they would franchise like Subway, and then there could be half a dozen in the city centre - lol!

Subway are actually trialing a mexican restaurant concept in the States called 'Bahia'. The publicity implies its a cross between a 'quick service restaurant' (posh Fast Food) and an authentic mexican Cantina. All the food is fast and fresh and seems to cover all the usual mexican basics but more mexican than tex-mex. Hopefully, it won't be as naff as Taco-Bell who have done to mexican food what McD's have done for real meat.

To be honest I can't see a truely mexican restaurant working in Sheffield. Tex-mex will be OK (Chequitas?) but probably what ever it is it will need to be very crossover and still do chicken nuggets (urgh!) and everything with chips. It's not that there aren't people who will eat international food, just no enough of them eating it regularly enough to make it pay. If it wasn't for students during term-time my guess is that more than half the eateries in the city wouldn't last 6 months before closing with a heap of debt.
