TheRedWizard
This is just an idea. I thought it might be useful if we had a thread where we listed what we were interested in historically, whether family surnames, placenames, topics, areas of interest, etc. This would help people get in touch with each other but also, as SF comes up very high on search engines, put people from outside Sheffield in touch if they are interested in something specific about the history of the city. PopT
With all the interest in family history by ex pats I'm surprised no one has started up a Sheffield Geneaology section on the Special interest part of the forum. I'm sure it would be a success reading all the postings. Happy Days!

PopT
I know there are some good family history sites forSheffielders but don't you agree that there is nothing like helping each other out with family details. Records are records and it's the inf that is not recorded that makes personal contact on tese forums so useful and I think there is room for a section on the Sheffield Forum. Does anyone agree? Happy days!

seanmc
I'm having trouble with the meaning of this Yorkshire name: Tuningley, variously spelt Tunningley and Tuninlay. I have no idea what it means or when it comes, but the earliest I've traced it back to is the parish of Felkirk near Wakefield in the early 18th century. There's nothing on the internet about it. However, Sheffield names I'm interested in are Cawthron (sic), Weldon, and Creswick.
