Crazymook
I'm no fan of Tesco, but it would be nice to get something done with the site. Whatever happens, be it retail or residential, it will generate more traffic and cars than the area can cope with (look at the parking around the flats at the top of School Road compared to what it used to be before they were there). There's a definite need for proper double yellows (with enforcement) to protect the users of the junctions from some of the crazy parking antics you see frequently. All the anti Tesco objections are equally applicable to most uses of the site. What would people actually like to see there? I think something like a park perhaps or maybe even a petrol station (only kidding). Edited April 8, 2009 by Crazymook
Jops
was walking past last night and there is a layby (albeit currently occupied by a skip) near there. It would certainly need some double yellows on the corners to improve visibility but isn't impossible.

markyh
If Tesco want to open and invest in the area by clearing up a derelict eyesore, creating jobs and delivering quality produce at reasonable prices in these hard times then let them. So be it. On the other hand, if they want to turn open space into ugly chrome covered with ubiquitous red white and blue branding, destroy jobs and diversity by driving out competition, and take money out of the local economy and into the hands of already minted shareholders in these hard times..... don't let them. rad
I think you're referring to the previous application as the period for feedback only ended yesterday for this one.
