Bonzo77
Shooting is a perfectly healthy hobby for mature, sensible people to indulge in. Anyone can get a gun licence tho. Anyone can turn up to a shooting club and use a gun. All it takes is for one person to go crazy and shoot something there not supposed to. A lot of people will use a gun safely and only shoot when and where they are supposed to. There will be a small percentage of people who take it too far and kill someone. I say let's reduce the RISK of this happening and ban ALL guns!!
Kaimani
It would be pretty difficult to run a grouse moor or deer park. That's not to mention that since fox hunting was banned control has passed to folk with guns. ok, fair enough. but 'sport'? considering the risk of being robbed of that gun then it being used for something else? or you going nuts...way i see it if a gun's there somewhere it opens up the possibility of 'tricky' situations turning fatal. HeadingNorth
All knives should be banned! Why do we need them, everyone should pick their food up with their hands and gnaw at it like savages! A knife is a useful tool which can also serve as a killing weapon. A gun is a killing weapon and nothing else. Hence the desire to severely restrict where, and how, the general public might run into the things. Above all else, making it routinely illegal to carry a firearm makes the job of the police a lot easier; anybody who they know to be part of a gang but cannot prove has committed a crime, is likely to be carrying a gun. If they stop him and find it, he can go straight inside without waiting to catch him in any other criminal act.

I believe guns for sporting use now have to be kept on-site, and the owner/shooter can't take them home with him.

Good point well made! Who needs knifes?! They are far too dangerous everyone should be made to use spoons! They aren't dangerous are they?

They are if you forget they've been sitting on the stove for half an hour. I've had those burns before!
newboy2011
All guns should be banned, with or without a licence! What's the point in owning a gun? Lets face it, they were only created for one thing, killing! The only people who should be able to own guns are the army and people who hunt livestock for a living. This will reduce the risk of some nutter who goes to a shooting club flipping out and going on a killing spree! No. We have the strictest laws going. Shooting is a fantastic sport. If some nutter wants to kill they will find away regardless of the law. Leave gun owners alone, with your knee-jerk reactions.
Chris_Sleeps
All knives should be banned! Does your liberalism apply the other way? People should be allowed access to grenades, flamethrowers or bazookas?

Leave gun owners alone, with your knee-jerk reactions. I think that the issue is that shooting someone with a gun is physically a lot less challenging, or even personal, than stabbing someone or beating some with with a heavy object. To stab someone or beat someone, you have really mean it to get up close to someone and inflict such violence. It's much easier to point a cylindrical piece of metal at someone a pull a trigger.
