mel77
Hi, My mums asked me to have a look for a kelly's street directory. I've had a look on the internet and a few family history sites but can't see any available to buy. She'd like 1968 and earlier.... Anyone know where these can be purchased?? Also i can buy them on CD for her and she can use my computer if you can't buy them in book form. Thanks in advance xx

hillsbro
Kelly's published directories for most of the country until the mid-1970s. The Local Studies Library on Surrey Street has a great many local Kelly's (and other) directories. They can be found in second-hand bookshops but tend to be pricey. A search on http://www.abebooks.com brought up over 100 for sale (though none for Sheffield) at prices up to £280. I have a 1973 edition for Sheffield & Rotherham; some may be available scanned on CDs but the only Sheffield one I am aware of on a CD is the 1925 directory, which I have. Lots of others are available on CDs - I have Lincolnshire and Derbyshire for 100+ years ago. You could try doing a search on eBay; I can look anything up from the 1925 Sheffield directory (which I have on my hard drive here in Lincs.) and the 1973 one when I go "home" to Hillsborough.
