Chris M
I remember as a teenager going to the Playhouse to watch a production that starred one of the Scaffold pop group. I think it was John Gorman (the bald one) I recall Gorman came out on stage at the interval and started kicking a football into the stalls - the audience kicked or threw it back to him - much to my amusement. I can remember this but not the title of the production ? Must have been around 1967 Anyone out there remember this ?
shelby46
Was that "John Willy and the Bee People"? I remember that one where there was a big orange furry creature called Fuzzbuzz. They threw sweets and footballs into the audience at the end. How sad am I for remembering that one?
Chris M
Hi Shelby - Thanks for that, although it is not ringing too many bells - I think the one I saw was more of a black comedy. I was in the school drama group and we often got a party booking for the Playhouse. I do remember - Under Milk Wood - Stirrings in Sheffield and any Shakespeare play that was on that season . There must be a list of Playhouse Productions somewhere !
CHAIRBOY
Some others I remember: Rattle of a Simple Man, Caucasian Chalk Circle, Waiting For Godot and The Cherry Orchard. One of the cast at that time was called Christopher Wilkinson.

'Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf', 'The Stirrings in Sheffield on Saturday Night'. 'Sergeant Musgrave's Dance'. 'Ring a Ring o' Roses'.

parsleydiva
I used to love going to The Playhouse and remember enjoying so much The Stirrings in Sheffield in particular.
Chris M
Thanks everyone - Rattle of a Simple Man sounds familiar - must have seen that one. I think the production I saw must have been a touring company and not the Playhouse team due to John Gorman's inclusion. Chris
