liza D
no, it was just a pub, but it was frequented by customers who were gay. soz couldn't resist
Steptoad
According to one of my gay friends the Cossack was a bar frequented by gays who were the "wrong sort of gay". Last time I went into Netto on Woodseats there were 50p glued to the floor.
liza D
I think Alex was talking about the 70s, didn't have netto here then. nor 50p pieces And what has Woodseats got to do with a town pub? comments like that are not very nice anyway.

Don't have a go. There were comments earlier in this thread about 50ps glued to the floor of the Cossack. All I was saying was last time I went into Netto the same phenomena had occurred there. By the way 50ps have been around since 1968-69,don't know about Netto though.
SugarPuff
The Cossack was great! I remember the two girls behind the bar, one blonde and one dark-haired, both very babelicious!
Rowlinson
In the 60s it certainly had a reputation but the term 'gay' wasn't the one in use then. I seem to remember it was a 'lock up' pub with no living quarters. The toilets were outside round the back and I think the brewery was Tetley.
