Alastair
There was a big white co-op building at the bottom of Ecclesall Road that was demolished quite a while back to make way for the supermarket there, now Waitrose. When it was still Safeway there were two big coloured decorations, art deco style, that had been rescued from the old Coop and were on display in the foyer of the supermarket. I was in there today and didn't see them, where are they now?
Alastair
Does anyone even know where I can find a picture of the old Ecclesall Coop building online? I've tried Picture Sheffield, but I can only get small parts of the building, mostly at the bottom of Cemetry Road. There must be a picture somewhere, I remember it was an imposing white Art Deco building with a pillars up the front.

BLITZER
As a young boy,I worked at the S & E Co-op Arcade in the grocery dept, just as the war started. It was a very popular store and you could buy a very diverse range of goods there, and 'divi' was paid on everything.
